Mission Statement

“I will give her vineyards from there, And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope; She shall sing there, As in the days of her youth, As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.” Hosea 2:15

We are a people who glorify God together by living out personally, passionately and intelligently the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are compelled by the love of God to bring about an awakening in our city and the world by preaching Christ and Him crucified, Who alone can transform us from the inside out.

Glorifying God

We are gospel-centered, for God is glorified when we, by faith, accept what he has done for us through Jesus Christ, Who alone can change us by His Holy Spirit into the people He created us to be. We are a people who worship God by knowing Him, loving Him, enjoying Him, and reflecting Him to a world that is looking for truth. “By this my Father is glorified that you bear much fruit, so you shall be my disciples.” John 15:8.

Cultivating Simplicity

We believe in cultivating simple church. We are not interested in religious form but helping people enter into a vibrant life changing relationship with the living Christ. “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:42.

Preach the Word: We are a people who will declare the whole counsel of God. The heaviest obligation upon us today is to purify and elevate our concept of God until it once more is worthy of Him. We cannot know Him if we do not spend much time with Him in His word, for Jesus is the living Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1.

Fellowship: We believe man is God’s method for making disciples. It is life together in unity of the Spirit that is the beginning of all true evangelism. “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35.

Communion: We believe that our understanding of the word, our fellowship and our prayers will be fruitless if they are disconnected from the person and work of Jesus upon the Cross. Therefore, in communion we remember Him and His sacrifice for us. “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” 1 Corinthians 10:16

Prayer: We believe prayer moves the hand of God and that without it we are powerless to do His work. “And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’.” Matthew 21:13

Deepening Community

A love for People: We believe that making disciples, not believers, is the biblical demand of Jesus. We recognize the costliness of following Jesus and that without spiritually investing in individuals, we cannot stand against the current tide of culture. We believe that the gospel alone can change society, but the transformation must begin by the Truth being lived out and communicated clearly, honestly and boldly for the people we love and serve. “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12

A love for the City: We believe God’s heart is to reach the city of Portland and that nothing will bring change and peace to the city like the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are invigorated by our city and will work to reach it through the sacrificial pouring out of our lives in the communities in which we serve. “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” Jeremiah 29:7
