Just some scripture from Ephesians that talks about God creating us for 'His good pleasure,"

Ephesians 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

This is an area I've struggled in for many years. Only when I've surrendered to Christ's serenade has He helped me to celebrate others victories. And it is very bizarre that I had the very same experience at Radiohead's concert in '93 with Belly. funny.

Pastor Josh:

That was beautifully said!

God speaks to me through your words of wisdom as you seek Him. It makes me want to know Him more!

Thank you for being such an inspiration!

God bless you, Darc and the kids!

I woke around 4 a.m. on 1/20 with these thoughts....

January 20, 2010, 5:22 AM

What if …

Would our God-given gifts be magnified if we gave up white noise - TV, internet and video games - a kind of mind-numbing anesthetic that keeps us bound, similar to those bound to the movie’s Matrix? Would we be better artists, writer, singers and craftsman? Would we churn out masterpieces, life-giving songs and beautiful creations?

Would our thoughts also change, with our brains working overtime to reconcile to God’s Word a constant stream of new ideas, ponderings and opinions. Would we assume ownership of our own thought-life, settled through our own brooding, rather than just adopting the attitudes of those around us? Would we be better with each other, more loving and considerate as husbands and wives, family members and friends?

What if you gave up one thing and devoted the time you spent with it to God?

Think about your dalliance with the dull buzz and consider how you might change as a result of your new freedom.

Are you brave enough to do it?

And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.
Ex. 31:3-5

I like much of what is written here. I would want to emphasize that if anyone is in Christ He is a new creation." We have been raised to the new age in redemptive history and given the Spirit. We no longer are slaves to sin, because we are 'not under the TORAH but under grace" and God is no longer 'imputing' our sins to us. How gracious! We also have the Spirit who give us new covenant hearts and leads us to cry 'abba' Father!" Praise Jesus!

If you really think about it…our lives are defined by coping skills and life strategies that we’ve developed in response to pain. For some of us anyway. I can honestly say that much of my life was shaped by painful events. Sexual abuse as a child, parents divorcing, horrible self-esteem during my teen years, promiscuity, bad relationships, abortion. All these things shaped who I was as an adult…before I got saved and, if truth be told, were still in existence after. Some of my coping skills are: controlling my environment, guardedness, distrust and an independence from people. The image I tried to project was that I was independent, confident and funny but deep down I was none of those things.

But who am I really and what did God have in mind for me?
Psalm 139:13
For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother's womb.

Jesus is our identity.

Galations 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Col. 3:9-11
Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

I am who He says I am. But to know what He says - I must know Him.
